Day to Day Poetry, poetry

Day to Day Poetry #11

Everytime someone asks me what I want for my birthday
I feel like saying:
To not feel like
I’m turning 26
Feeling like this

But no one wants to hear that
Because it ruins their happy day,
So I settle for the next best thing and say:

CAKE.
And lots of it.

  1. You mean presumptuous. “Pre-sumptuous” isn’t a word. Also, it’s a poem, so thank you for taking that way too literally. Lastly, I don’t think it’s “pre-sumptuous”, it’s more in the way of a polite conversation. And you will be absolutely lying if you say that you always go into detail about the morbid reality of your own life every time someone asks how you are — it’s just human nature.
