Day to Day Poetry #16

Exploring cities, scouring each alleyway,
For the tiniest room with the cheapest rent
— a place to make art and feel loved and alone,
Where we can be shamelessly ourselves.
Four walls in different colours,
And the barest of all necessities,
Where stuffed animals full of childhood and innocence,
Stand guard against the demons we create for ourselves.
A cigarette for your thoughts,
And treats for all the cats in the neighbourhood,
A secret spot hidden against forgotten trees
That cradles the DVP,
CN tower on the backdrop —
Images burned fiercely in my mind,
Eternal bliss.
